KINGSTON – The Sandals Foundation and the Bob Marley Foundation joined forces and donated 20 laptops to the Women’s Centre of Jamaica Foundation (WCJF) on Friday.
The joint Foundation’s Women Helping Others Achieve (WHOA) project aims to address the chronic issue of gender inequality in the Caribbean.
On Friday, the students from the WCJF Kingston site demonstrated to representatives from the Sandals and Bob Marley Foundation, how they currently gather around one computer to complete assignments. Approximately 8 girls sit in front of one computer, while the teacher would give a lesson. The girls complained on how tough and distracting it can get, sharing one computer among many students.
The laptops will be distributed among the 12 Centres across Jamaica.
