KINGSTON – On Saturday, women from all walks of life came together for the Raise Yuh Voice! conference at the Institute of Jamaica, downtown Kingston. The conference featured keynote speakers: Afia Walking Tree from Spirit Drumz; Karen Ayee, from One Billion Rising Jamaica; Gaama Mama G from Maroon Indigenous Women Circle; Taitu Heron from UN Women; and Even Ensler from VDAY One Billion Rising.
Speakers shared their experiences regarding the many different issues that women face, but mainly focused on the issue surrounding gender-based violence (GBV).
The Women’s Centre of Jamaica Foundation (WCJF) had the opportunity to deliver sexual reproductive health (SRH) information to the attendees of the conference.
