Providing Psycho-Social Support During COVID-19 Pandemic

In keeping with the measures being taken to contain the spread of the Novel Corona Virus (COVID-19) Pandemic in Jamaica, the centres and outreach stations were closed to the adolescent mothers. However, in order to continue to provide the girls with psycho-social and financial support, the Honourable Olivia Grange, who has portfolio responsibility for the WCJF, initiated the means by which all the girls were provided with “Dignity Kits” containing food items, as well as hygiene and sanitation products. In addition to the packages, each girl received a stipend of $2000.00. The broad smiles on the faces of the young mothers revealed their hearts of gratitude and appreciation for the items received.

The Honourable Minister, as well as the Board of Directors are commended for this initiative which was undertaken at a budget of $4.8M, and realized by the tireless and selfless efforts of the members of staff.
