Kingston Jamaica May 15, 2024       The Women’s Centre of Jamaica Foundation (WCJF), is honored to announce that Prime Minister the Honorable Andrew Holness will be the keynote speaker at its Charity Ball and Fundraising dinner to support its education fund for teen mothers.

The event will be held on May 18, 2024 at 7:00 p.m. at the Jamaica Pegasus Hotel.

The fundraising dinner aims to raise critical funds for WCJF’s A-STREAM education fund, which provides financial assistance and psychosocial support to teen mothers across Jamaica who have enrolled in the Programme for Adolescent Mothers and have been reintegrated into the formal school system. The fund also supports adolescent mothers pursuing tertiary education and skills training.

“We are incredibly grateful that the Prime Minister, the Honorable Andrew Holness, has agreed to support the mandate of the Foundation in this noble way. He was a natural fit for this year’s staging of Charity Ball as leaves a trail of success, creating positive impact on youth development through education” explained Novlette Howell, Executive Director of the Women’s Centre of Jamaica Foundation.

Ms. Howell further explained that the goal is to raise 10 million dollars from this event.

“We have seen where some of our young ladies, despite their early unplanned pregnancy have very bright futures ahead of them that were threaten because they do not have the financial resources. That is when we decided we must do something to help them. That’s when we launched the A-STREAM Programme to ensure these young ladies maximize their full potential” she said.

Tickets for the event are currently on sale for $30,000.00 and can be purchased by contacting pr.assistant@womenscentreja.com

The Women’s Centre of Jamaica Foundation was established in 1978 with the primary objective of providing continued education for pregnant girls. The Foundations operates from 14 locating island wide and has supported approximately 55,000 adolescent mothers.
