Women’s Centre of Jamaica Foundation Hosts Fundraising Dinner to Support Education Fund for Teen Mothers
Kingston Jamaica May 13, 2024 The Women’s Centre of Jamaica Foundation (WCJF), will host its major fundraiser – Charity Ball and Fundraising dinner on May 18, 2024 at 7:00 p.m. to support its education fund – A-STREAM – designed specifically for adolescent mothers. The event will be held at the Jamaica Pegasus Hotel.
The fundraising dinner aims to raise critical funds for WCJF’s A-STREAM education fund, which provides financial assistance and psychosocial support to teen mothers across Jamaica who have enrolled in the Programme for Adolescent Mothers and have been reintegrated into the formal school system. The fund also support adolescent mothers pursuing tertiary education and skills training.
“We have had young ladies who would not have finished high school had it not been for the A-STREAM Programme. There are times when they do not have the funds to purchase back to school supplies, and even bus fare to go to school. This is where the fund steps in – providing the financial support to these vulnerable young ladies so they may advance their education,” says Novlette Howell Executive Director at the WCJF. “Every dollar raised at this dinner will go directly towards helping these young mothers achieve their educational goals and build brighter futures for themselves and their children.”
