Once enrolled in the PAM, adolescent mothers benefit from three categories of counselling
– group and individual, sexual and reproductive as well as psychological.
Group and Individual Counselling
During individual counselling sessions, trained counsellors help students explore their thoughts, feelings, behaviors, and personal challenges. Counselling sessions are tailored to the specific needs and concerns of the student. Our students work with their counsellors to identify and address issues, set goals, develop coping strategies, and gain insights into their emotions and behaviors. Counsellors also offer guidance, support, and techniques to help the young mother navigate their new norm and prepare them for reintegration into the regular school system.
While group counselling in our group counseling sessions, students interact with each other under the guidance of their counsellor.
Various techniques to facilitate discussions, promote self-awareness, and help group members develop coping skills. Students learn from each other’s experiences and provide mutual support.
In our Sexual and Reproductive Health Counselling sessions, keen attention is placed on providing adolescent mothers with information, and guidance related to their sexual and reproductive well-being.
Our trained counsellors offer information about various aspects of sexual health, including anatomy, contraception, sexually transmitted infections (STIs), and pregnancy. Students are encouraged to make g informed decisions about their sexual and reproductive choices.
Similarly, counsellors expose adolescent mothers to different contraceptive methods and explain how different methods work, their effectiveness, and potential side effects.
Students are also exposed to Family Planning counselling which includes discussions about family planning, spacing pregnancies, and fertility awareness.
Trained Clinical Psychologist are on staff to assess and treat adolescent mothers who have displayed emotional, behavioural, and psychological issues.
